danger

Before going any further, be sure that you have backups of any important information. Consider especially all two-factor tokens for your bank as well as messages from a third party messaging solutions that may not have an iCloud sync feature by default.

Recycle an iOS device managed by Bravas

To recycle an iOS device managed by Bravas, simply use our admin console under the Operate tab to find the target device in the device list and using the action menu, chose to wipe the device.

As soon as the device is able to reach the Internet, it will be erased and will restart its activation procedure to allow a configuration for a new user. If the device is eligible to Automated Enrollment in Apple Business or School Manager, the activation process will automatically prompt the user to re-enroll in Bravas after the device wipe.

Recycle an iOS device manually configured

If your iOS device is not managed by Bravas, the process will be more painful as you will be required to know both the device passcode and the eventual iCloud account passcode.

To erase an iOS device manually you need to follow the procedure in the Settings app, then navigate through the General then Transfer or Reset sections, and finally tap on Erase all content and settings.

This wizard will ask you for the device passcode to allow the action, and if an iCloud account is set on the device it will ask you to authenticate to remove the association between the device and this iCloud account.

Indeed an iCloud account serve as a protection for stollen iPhone and iPad, to avoid them being used. To allow a clean erases of an iOS device, you will need to logout from the iCloud account.

If you do not know the local passcode or have no access to the iCloud account, we cannot help you. Contact the AppleCare to ask for guidance in that situation.

Once the device is wiped, it is a good opportunity to follow our Apple Configurator procedure to link this endpoint to your Apple Business or School Manager.
